President Donald Trump claimed 48 Iranian leaders were killed in strikes, saying action prevented Iran from building nuclear weapons within weeks.
WASHINGTON (Dunya News) – US President Donald Trump claimed that 48 Iranian leaders have been killed so far in the recent military strikes against Iran.
Speaking to foreign media, Trump said the decision to launch the attack was necessary, alleging that Iran could have developed a nuclear weapon within two weeks if no action had been taken. “I’m not worried about anything. Things are going well. I just do what is right,” he said.
In an earlier interview, Trump stated that he was aware of who was issuing orders in Iran following the reported assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He also claimed that Iranian retaliatory attacks on US bases were less intense than expected and suggested that a diplomatic solution to the crisis was now easier to achieve.
Meanwhile, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on social media that “Operation Epic Fury” was launched on Trump’s orders, calling it the most lethal and complex operation in history.
Hegseth added that Iran had an opportunity to reach an agreement but refused, warning that the United States would not tolerate missiles targeting the American people.
There was no immediate independent verification of the casualty figures cited by the US president.
