Rains fell for sixty hours straight on Colombias Cauca Valley, sending water flooding into towns on Wednesday.The Cauca River flowed over its banks into the streets of Cali and neighbouring towns, driving some 1,076 families from their homes.Video from local television showed people splashing through the streets and evacuating homes.Some people loaded belongings into canoes as they headed for higher ground.Yolima Aguilar was among the flood victims, and she said they needed more tents and supplies.We are all suffering the same fate. We dont have tents. We dont have anything but here we are. Last night my daughter-in-law had to sleep sitting in a chair because we couldnt fit in the tent, she said.Local emergency officials said 28 homes were destroyed, a bridge was washed-out, crops were flooded, and several roads were washed out.They have reported 3,500 affected families in the Cauca Valley. Government officials have helped with aid, but local say they need to do more.
