Summary The US Supreme Court on Monday affirmed a ban on foreigners financing election campaigns.
The nine justices rejected an appeal from two foreigners -- a Canadian and an Israeli Canadian -- with US work visas seeking to donate to political campaigns.The Federal Election Campaign Act prohibits foreign nationals donating or spending funds in connection with any US election, directly or indirectly.In its decision, the Supreme Court has affirmed without further explanation a lower Washington courts ruling denying foreigners the right to contribute in any way to a US campaign.
