LAHORE (Web Desk) – Muslim members of the US House of Representatives belonging to Palestine and Somalia were re-elected on Wednesday.

Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat and the first Palestinian-American woman in the lower house, returned from Michigan’s 13th District for a fourth time.

Tlaib, who has strong support from the Arab-American community in Dearborn, got 70 percent of the vote. Her Republican challenger, James Hooper, received 26 percent votes.

She is the only Palestinian-American currently serving in Congress and a vocal critic of US policy toward Israel.

Noted Somali Muslim woman, Ilhan Omar, the first Somali-American in Congress, was re-elected for a third term from Minnesota’s 5th District.

Omar is a former refugee. She got 75.2 percent votes. Like Tlaib, she is opposed to the US policy towards Israel.
