Summary Egypts new prime minister, Kamal al-Ganzouri, said he had no intention to hold finance portfolio.

The independent Al-Masry Al-Youm daily, on its Facebook page, had cited an unidentified source as saying Ganzouri would keep the Finance Ministry for himself. But the new premier said he was not interested. Ganzouri said restoring security in the country was a priority. The number one priority in the formation of the salvation cabinet is how to restore security in Egypts streets. This process isnt complete when the Prime Minister says it has been restored; or when the Interior Minister announces that 70 percent of security forces have been restored; the only judge of this is the Egyptian public, they can say whether or not they feel more secure today than had yesterday or the day before, Ganzouri told reporters.Egypts economy has been hammered by the uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak and the political uncertainty since then.Ganzouri was credited with economic liberalisation and delivering growth when he was premier under Mubarak in the 1990s.
