Dozens of activists marched to the American Chamber of Commerce at Manila’s financial district on Friday in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement decrying economic inequality.Protesters held placards and streamers showing their support for the growing movement which has has been gaining global attention. Activists from the left-leaning groups marched on the streets of Manila, from the Philippine Stock Exchange to the American Chamber of Commerce.They expressed their solidarity with the US protesters, and said they suffered the same inequalities due to economic policies that only benefited the upper 1 percent of the Philippine population while the rest were hit with rising unemployment and poverty.We feel that we have to stand in solidarity with the American people in this very important fight because we are also affected by the global and economic crisis that is gripping the United States and Europe right now. And we have to take measures to protect our own economy against the exploitation of foreign banks, and big multinational corporations, said New Patriotic Alliance spokesperson Renato Reyes.
