Summary Adviser to Iran's supreme leader has criticized Turkey over NATO radar base.

A senior adviser to Irans supreme leader says Turkey has made a strategic mistake by agreeing to allow NATO to station an early warning radar in the country. The radar is to become part of a missile defense system aimed at countering ballistic missile threats from neighboring Iran.Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi says Turkey is moving in the wrong direction with its decision in September to host the station. He made the comment in an interview with the semi-official Mehr news agency Saturday.Safavi is an adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and a former commander of the Revolutionary Guard.Turkey claims the shield doesnt target a specific country and had threatened to block the deal if Iran was explicitly named as a threat.
