Summary A car bomb outside a bank in northern Iraq leaves at least two people dead and more than 30 wounded.

At least two people were killed and another 36 wounded when a large bomb exploded in Iraqs Kirkuk city on Thursday, police and hospital officials said. The explosion was outside a bank where police were collecting their salaries.Thick, black smoke could be seen coming from the site in Kirkuk city centre where emergency workers helped the wounded into ambulances. One dead body lay in the street near the wreckage from the attack.“This situation is unacceptable. If the situation remains like that, it is better for the government to resign. You can see the damage, our houses have been demolished”, said local resident Ahmed Shaker.Violence has fallen sharply in Iraq since the sectarian strife in 2006-2007, but Sunni Islamist insurgents and Shiite militias still carry out daily bombings and assassinations.Attacks this year have often targeted local government offices or Iraqi security forces. Insurgents have tried to destabilise Prime Minister Nuri al-Malikis power-sharing government, which is split among Shiite, Sunni and Kurdish blocs.
