Summary Australian police are investigating allegations that a MP misused a credit card to pay prostitutes.
This political scandal could bring down the countrys fragile government.Police announced Tuesday that they are investigating new evidence that government lawmaker Craig Thomson misused a trade union credit card when he was a senior union official in 2005 and 2007.A conviction for theft or fraud would force Thomson to quit Parliament and cost Prime Minister Julia Gillards government its single-seat majority.Thomson has denied any wrongdoing and Gillard is publicly supporting him. The new evidence was presented to police by an opposition senator.
