The Turkish military has launched fresh airstrikes against five areas along Iraqs border with the country, hitting positions of the terrorist group of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).At least seven people were killed during round of bombings on Sunday. The attacks followed Turkeys artillery barrage into several PKK lairs in Iraq earlier in the day.The forces have been waging successive offensives against the militants since Wednesday hours after the group killed 11 Turkish soldiers and a Turkish security guard in an ambush in the border Hakkari Province in the southwest.Some 40 Turkish soldiers have been killed in PKK attacks since July. Ankara says some 2,000 PKK militants operate close to the common border in northern Iraq.The Kurdish group, which is recognized as a terrorist group by much of the international community, has been fighting the central government in Turkey since 1984 in quest for an independent state in the southwestern Turkey.
