Summary Egypt's state news agency says Libyan interior minister and his family have arrived in Cairo.
It is not clear if Nasser al-Mabrouk Abdullah has defected or is on holiday, as he is reported to have told Egyptian officials.Mr Abdullah flew from the Tunisian island of Djerba to Egypt on a private plane with nine family members, a Cairo airport security official said.Dozens of high-ranking officials have turned their back on Libyan leader Moamar Gaddafi, including former interior and justice ministers and his ambassador to the Cairo-based Arab league, since the revolt erupted six months ago.Libyan rebels say they now have control of most of the key strategic town of Zawiyah.Rebels said they had seized most of the port 40 kilometres west of Tripoli, the last barrier to their thrust towards the capital.But hours after the rebels claimed the advancement, Gaddafis forces launched a bombardment to try to retake the town.Six Grad missiles hit Zawiyah, sparking a fierce heavy artillery exchange that caused an unknown number of casualties.
