NATO bombardment targeted the area around Muammar Gaddafis Bab al-Aziziyah compound.The compound, which is in the vicinity of military sites, is a regular target of air strikes on Tripoli.The strikes occurred around 01:00 am local time. A plume of white smoke was seen rising from the area.Meanwhile, a NATO air raid destroyed on an antenna radar system at the Tripoli International Airport. NATO claims in a statement that the system that was previously used for civilian air traffic control, had been used by pro-Gaddafi forces to track NATO air assets in the airspace over Tripoli and to coordinate their own air defense early warning system.NATO also emphasized in the statement that it will continue to control Libyan airspace in order to ensure the safe entrance of all legitimate humanitarian or diplomatic flights entering Libya.However, the executive director of the security department of Tripoli Airport said the airport was used for civilian purposes, not for military purposes. On the other side, Libyas government spokesman said on that al Qaeda was responsible for the death of the rebel military chief Abdel Fattah Younes because he was trying to exclude them from any political settlement.He said that he 190 rebels were killed in the western fighting.
