Summary Syrian government supporters smashed windows at US Embassy in Damascus on Monday.
They raised a Syrian flag and scrawled graffiti calling the American ambassador a dog in anger over the envoys visit last week to an opposition stronghold.French Embassy security guards fired in the air to hold back supporters of President Bashar Assads regime who were also protesting the French ambassadors visit to the same city, Hama, in central Syria. One witness said three protesters were injured when guards beat them with clubs, reports a news agency.The witness asked not to be identified because of the sensitivity of the situation.There was no immediate word on casualties at the American Embassy demonstration.US State Department plans to call in Syrias senior diplomat in Washington to complain about an attack on the US embassy in Damascus, a US official said.We are calling in the Syrian charge (daffaires) to complain, said the official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
