The Indian home ministry has ordered the revenue officials to investigate allegations of corruption against former Supreme Court chief justice KG Balakrishnan.According to authorities, a probe has been ordered following a petition alleging that Balakrishnan had acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.The petition has been sent to the Revenue Department secretary for an inquiry.The petitioner alleged that Balakrishnan had accumulated wealth and purchased assets in the names of his relatives worth billions of rupees.The chief justice said that he had provided every detail of his assets to the Tax Department and he would defend all the accusations in court.
