Summary Rescue workers began to rescue thousands of residents trapped by floods in China.
Torrential rains in the regions of Hubei and Hunan, two provinces hardest hit by the flooding, have killed 94 people, 78 missed and left thousands stranded.Precipitation reached record levels in the provinces Tongcheng county, state media said, topping a 200 year high, of 300 millimetres within four hours.Over 60,000 residents were evacuated from Hubeis Xianing city, while nearly 100,000 people were stranded by floods in three of Xiannings counties. In Chongyang, more than 200 school children were left stranded after a flood engulfed their primary school.
