Summary A suicide bomber killed six people and wounded 23 more at a military hospital in Kabul on Saturday.
The bomber struck at 12:30 p.m. local time (5 p.m. EDT) in the cafeteria of the hospital where medical students were eating lunch, said Mohammad Zahir, head of the police crime investigation unit. He said the dead were students.The hospital is in a high-security area near the U.S. embassy where several other foreign embassies and international organizations operate.Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in an emailed statement the group had sent two suicide bombers into the hospital and killed many. The Taliban launched a long-awaited spring offensive last month.Afghan President Hamid Karzai and the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) condemned the attack.
