Summary Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress ended 35-year Communist rule in West Bengal.

The Trinamool Congress has so far secured 214 seats out of 294 and unseated a Communist government that has held the power for 35 years.The ruling Congress was also leading the Communists in Kerala, Assam and Pandecherry. However, in Tamil Nadu the Indian ruling party was facing a defeat as Jayalalita’s All India ADMK secured 191 seats out of 234.
