Summary Rescue teams started a search for the people stuck under the rubble of the buildings.
At least 10 people were killed in an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 in Lorca, in southern Spain on Wednesday. Several historic buildings were also damaged in the earthquake. The earthquake which struck in the evening damaged a hospital and a church clock tower. Lorca, which has a population of about 90,000 people, dates back to the Bronze Age and there is speculation that they city gained its name from the Romans.
