Summary The Supreme Court also barred all the parties from praying at the raised site of Babri Masjid.

The Indian Supreme Court on Monday stayed the Allahabad High Court’s verdict of dividing the Babri Mosque site in Ayodhya in three parts, terming the judgement strange.Last year the Allahabad High Court had passed the verdict directing partition of the site into three parts among Muslims, Hindus and Nirmohi Akhara. The court, while staying the judgement of the Lucknow bench of the high court, ordered status quo at the site. The counsel for the Sunni Evacuee Board Zafaryab Gilani termed the SC decision correct one and said that none of the parties was happy with the Allahabad High Court verdict. The court also questioned that how could a decree of partition be passed when none of the parties had prayed for it.
