SRINAGAR (Web Desk): An Indian court on Thursday has declared three Kashmiris illegally detained in New Delhi’s Tihar jail as innocent and acquitted them after 23 years, reported Kashmir Media Service.

In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has welcomed the acquittal.

Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “It gives us an idea about the working of the judiciary and their bias against Kashmiris. They are hell-bent to stifle any voice of dissent.”

He said after incriminating them in false cases, the judicial system made them spend twenty-three years of their lives in jails. It took them 23 years to come to a conclusion that they were innocent, he added.

Ashraf Sehrai said, “Although an impartial judiciary is considered as a main pillar of democracy. However, while dealing with Kashmiri prisoners their partial approach has put a question mark on its credibility.”

He demanded unconditional release of all political prisoners languishing in different jails of India and the territory.
