(Web Desk) – The General Authority for Entertainment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has launched two global competitions inviting Muslims from around the world to encourage youth to recite the Holy Quran.

The Quran Recitation Competition and the Azaan Competition will award prizes worth SAR 12000,000 to the participants.

The GEA Chairman Turki Al-Sheikh announced the launch in a tweet.

According to the statement issued on the website, the purpose of the competitions is to highlight to the world that Islam rejects extremism and intolerance in all of its manifestations.

‘The awards  aim is to highlight and present the diversity of the Islamic nation to the whole world. It will showcase the different methods of reciting the Holy Quran and raising the Azaan among Muslims in different regions of the world. The awards will also aspire to encourage beginners and youth to recite the Holy Quran and raise the Azaan.’

One competition is to find the most beautiful voice reciting the Holy Quran and the other to raise Azaan.

‘The most beautiful recitations of the Holy Quran and Azaan will be curated internationally. It will serve in spreading the true identity of Islam, which promotes mercy and forgiveness and advocates against extremism and fanaticism in all their forms.

Each recitation of the Holy Quran and performance of Azaan will uncover the richness and aesthetics of the Holy Quran and Azaan.’

The Quran Award is designed for all Muslims who have an alluring and inspiring voice in reciting the Book of Allah from all over the world to win the valuable prizes presented by the General Authority for Entertainment.

The aim of the competition is to encourage, ‘the world’s most accomplished reciters of the Quran to get an opportunity to spread the Holy Book’s message and win valuable prizes in the process.’

The winner of the Quran recitation competition will get SAR 5,000,000, 2nd place will get 2,000,000, 3rd place 1,000,000 and fifth place will get 500,000 Saudi Riyals.

The Azaan award is designed for all male Muslims who have beautiful, alluring and inspiring voices.

‘Raising Azaan is a breathtaking piece that holds the hearts of anyone who listens to it; from the worshipers to the visitors and tourists worldwide. The competition invites those who are blessed with an alluring voice to an opportunity to sooth the hearts and tear the eyes of all people in the Prophet’s Mosque (PBUH) in Almadinah Almunawwarah.’

The winner of the Azaan competition will be awarded with SAR 2,000,000, the runner up SAR 1,000,000, 3rd place will get SAR 5,000,000 and the participant in the fourth place will get 250,000 Saudi Riyals.

The registration period is from May 22 to June 22. The applicants will be filtered till August 22. Live performances will be carried out throughout August and September.

Winners will be declared October.
