A US judge has sentenced a Somali man to 10 years in prison for failing to acknowledge ties with two global terrorist groups after he was arrested on immigration charges near the Texas-Mexico border three years ago.Ahmed Muhammed Dhakane, 25, was detained in March 2008 near Brownsville and was declared guilty in November on two counts.The US Justice Department said that the court records show Dhakane did not admit on an asylum application that he had been a member of, or associated with, al-Barakat and Al-Ittihad Al-Islami.Both are on the US Treasury Departments list of global terrorist groups with links to al-Qaeda.
