Officially announcing the nominees for his new security team at the White House, the US President Barrack Obama addressed the new officials and said that the CIA plays a paramount role in the war against terrorism. President Obama said that America still faces a lot of challenges which is why the US army is fully prepared for war. President Obama said that the reason to withdraw the forces from Iraq was to focus on Afghanistan. At the occasion he nominated CIA Director Leon Panetta to become the new US defence secretary and named Army General David Petraeus, commander of the Afghan war effort, to head the spy.Obama also nominated the former US Ambassador to Pakistan, Ryan C. Crocker, as the new ambassador to Afghanistan while Lt General John Allen was nominated to takes charge of US forces in Afghanistan.Obama said that he is hopeful that the senate would approve of the nomination so the officials can start their duties as soon as possible.
