Italy: Security crew foil attempted Alitalia flight hijack

Security officials on board the flight overpowered a Kazakh man who tried to hijack an Alitalia flight AZ329 from Paris to Rome. The Hijacker demanded the plane to be flown to Libya, but was quickly overpowered and arrested when the plane landed. The hijacker pulled a knife to the throat of a flight attendant and held her hostage for a few minutes.Security officials and attendants on flight overpowered the man as the captain radioed police, who was arrested when the plane landed. The police identified the man as a 48-year-old citizen of Kazakhstan who worked in Paris.The flight attendant was taken to a first aid station at Rome airport for treatment of minor injuries.
