According to the media reports, the former Egyptian president suffered a heart attack when he was being questioned by the authorities on the charge of corruption and opting for violence to quell the popular movement against him. The 82-year-old was shifted to the Sharm-El-Sheikh International Hospital under heavy security. As his condition worsened, Mubarak was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit.After a nationwide 18-day uprising which started on January 25, Hosni Mubarak stepped down from presidency on February 11, effectively ending his 30-year grip on power. Mubarak has been banned from leaving the country, along with his sons and their wives, and their family assets have been frozen.
