Summary The Fashion Girls for Japan is a two day sample sale event.

More than a hundred New York-based fashion designers donated clothing and accessories from their lines to benefit relief efforts in Japan. All of the proceeds from the sales will go to the Japan Societys Japan Earthquake Relief Fund, The Red Cross and the New York Citys Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Fund.Designer goods were on sale for a fraction of their original retail value and some shoppers got in line hours before the start of the sale.I came here at 8.30 and I wanted to come for all the fabulous designers and I really wanted to help out with Japan and thought that this was a great opportunity, said Tatiana Hayakawa who is half Japanese and was at the front of the line. Mandy Estrada also waited in line for over two hours.The event is the brainchild of Kikka Hanazawa, the President of fashion label VPL, Tomoko Ogura, Director of Womens Co-Op at Barneys New York, and Kyoko Kageyama of fashion brand 3.1 Phillip Lim.
