Also the migratory stock of birds has given birth to about a thousand chicks. They come from Himachal Pradesh state and breed here in the winters. Many other species breed here. For example, the Lion Tail Macaw which is found in the Western Ghats of Karnataka state and is a highly endangered species, has also given birth to a chick here, said Riaz Khan, the curator of the Delhi Zoo.Khan also added that these would be the last births of this season as migratory birds would arrive for breeding only after May. Most of these baby animals born are less than a month old and are being closely monitored by the authorities. The officials hope that the birth of these animals will increase the number of daily visitors to the zoo.
