Summary At least six people were killed after security forces opened fire on them in Deraa.
According to sources, security forces open fire on pro-democracy protestors who were gathered outside the Omari mosque in the city of Deraa. The protestors gathered to demand political reforms in the country and to stop the security forces from entering the mosque, which has been the main centre of the anti-government protests. According to eye-witnesses, the protestors did not attack the security force and were only protesting peacefully when the security force open fire. Before the attack, electricity was cut off in the area and telephone services were severed.
