Summary US First Lady Michelle Obama and Mexico's First Lady Margarita Zavala visited a bilingual school in Washington, DC Thursday, where they read to students in both English and Spanish.
Margarita Zavala was in the US capital as her husband, President Felipe Calderon, visited with US President Barack Obama. The women spoke to students at the Oyster-Adams Bilingual School. Margarita Zavala, speaking in Spanish, talked to the elementary school students about whale migration in Mexican waters, before reading a story. Michelle Obama read the classic Dr. Seuss childrens book The Cat in the Hat. The first ladies read at the school in support of Read Across America, a program designed to encourage children to read.
