NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – Indian Samajwadi Party MP Naresh Agarwal spoke up against spy Kulbhushan Jadhav, who has been sentenced to death over terrorist activities in Pakistan, and said that Pakistan has declared him a terrorist and would, therefore, treat him like one.

Agarwal told news agency ANI, “If Pakistan has declared Kulbhushan Jadhav as a terrorist in their country, then they will treat him like one (terrorist). In our country also, we should treat terrorists in the similar manner. Terrorists should be dealt with strictly.”

He also asked that why Indian media was only talking about Jadhav when there were so many other Indians who are languishing in Pakistani jails.

The politician was later subjected to criticism from various other political leaders.

Earlier, Jadhav’s mother Avanti and wife Chetna met him on Monday at Pakistan Foreign Office. A couple of FO officials along with Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh were also present during the meeting which lasted around 40 minutes.

Foreign Office spokesperson in a statement had said that Pakistan has permitted the meeting of wife and mother of Commander Jadhav with him as a humanitarian gesture on the birthday of the Father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

It is worth mentioning here that Jadhav was arrested in March 2016 from Balochistan. The in-service Indian navy officer was tried by a military court and sentenced to death after he confessed to be working against China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), creating unrest in Balochistan and parts of Pakistan on orders of the Indian intelligence agency.

On May 18, 2017, the International Court of Justice stayed the hanging, after India approached it against the death sentence.
