Summary A special meeting of UN Security Council on Tuesday was held to take an overview of Libyas situation. Security Councils Undersecretary General expressed grave concern at the situation in Libya and the deaths of hundreds of civilians.
Security Council’s Undersecretary General Lynn B. Pascoe told media that we have been deeply concerned about the situation that has been going on in Libya. I am not going to make any comments on, of course, what the Security Council action might be, but I briefed on the events of the last several days as we saw them. The concerns that we had and the Secretary-Generals efforts are really to reduce violence, to cut down the dangers, to move towards a better situation. The UN refugee agency urged Libyas neighbours to grant refuge to those fleeing the unrest.
