Summary Gulmarg, the famous hill resort in the valley region of Jammu and Kashmir has hosted the much-awaited annual Snow Festival and thus lure more tourists to this scenic spot. Gulmarg is the heartland of winter sports in the region.
The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism department has organised the festival in which the prime attractions are cycling, snow rugby, skiing and other snow sports. Above all, it is the eager to make a snowman that has attracted the tourists - both domestic and foreign.A traditional Kashmiri music group has been keeping the spirits of the tourists at the Snow Festival with lively and vibrant tunes. In fact, the snow festival was expected to be held during the Christmas, but it was deferred due to less amount of snow. Besides, these vagaries of weather, the recurring violence and frequent shutdowns in the region had stopped all adventure sports but recently tourism got a boost.
