Summary According to US newspaper Washington Post, the US citizen who fatally shot two men in Pakistan last month, has been confirmed as a security contractor for the CIA who was part of a secret agency team operating out of a safe house in Lahore, US officials said; where as State Department has denied to confirm this news and has demanded for immediate release of Raymond Davis.
US newspaper Washington Post has claimed that Raymond Davis has spent much of the past two years working as part of a group of covert CIA operatives, whose mission appears to have centered on conducting surveillance of militant groups in large cities including Lahore. It has also been revealed about Davis that he was earlier associated with the US security firm Blackwater as well. The paper also reveals that at the time of his arrest, Davis was based at a house with five other CIA contractors as well as an agency employee. A US official said the impact of the disclosure that Davis is a CIA employee will be serious and it is going to make it a hell of a lot harder to get him out of Pakistan; where as Raymond Davis is not at all safe in Pakistan.While on the other side US State Department simply denied confirming this news and demanded for an immediate release of Raymond Davis. US officials reiterated their concern for Davis and provided new details on the conditions at the jail where he is being held. One US official said Davis had been moved to a separate section of the facility where the guards guns had been taken away for fear that one of them may kill him.
