(Web Desk) - Malala Yousafzai, a Nobel Peace laureate, who survived an attack by the Taliban in which she was shot in the head for advocating girls education, has recently joined Twitter right after having completed her high school. The rights campaigner’s first tweets on the account dealt with calls for people to help her fight for girl’s education.

According to BBC News, the 19-year-old Malala started sending her first tweets the same day she finished school, which she described as a "bittersweet" moment. Nearly all of the tweets on the account till now deal with promotion of female education and equality. Malala had also used the account to reveal that she would be spending the summer campaigning around the world on her Girl Power Trip during which she would visit girls in the Middle East, Africa and Latin America in order promote her cause internationally.
The entry of Malala into one of social media’s largest sites was met with much joy from people with many of her fans and admirers posting welcoming comments. Many famous personalities, including Bill Gates, who tweeted on Friday how Malala continued to inspire him, also greeted the rights campaigner’s entry into Twitter with congratulatory posts and messages.

The Twitter account also received much attention from large media organizations such as CNN, CBC and People Magazine all of whom posted news relating to the account. Additionally UNICEF also welcomed Malala to Twitter saying that they were excited to continue working on women’s rights with her.
