Summary The organisation aims to draw attention towards misusing Islam in 'Not With Us' rally
(Web Desk) - About 10,000 Muslims will protest against extremism in the Cologne city of Germany on Saturday after the horrific terror attacks in United Kingdom and elsewhere on the globe.
To invite support from the Muslim community in Europe, the organisers wrote on their website, “The attacks by people who justify their acts by invoking Islam, without justification, are becoming more frequent.”
The organisation aims to draw attention towards misusing the practices of Islamic faith. They want to express a strong disapproval towards terrorism and violence, and tell everyone that Islam preaches peace for humanity. “Our faith is being abused, defiled, insulted and distorted into something unrecognisable by this. Let us put a powerful sign against violence and terror," they said.
Many other groups have supported the protest to denounce terror in the name of the religion. But the shocker came from one of the leading Muslim organisations in Germany, Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs (Ditib), who decided against taking part in the huge demonstration.
Ditib said the event was to stigmatise Muslims during the holy month of Ramazan. It represents 900 Muslim communities across the country. “Calls for ‘Muslim’ anti-terror demos fall short, stigmatise Muslims, and confine international terrorism to being just among them and within their communities and mosques,” Ditib said in a statement.
The main concern of the association is that the Muslims will suffer as a result of protesting while fasting hours. The temperature is expected to 25 degree Celsius in Cologne on Saturday.
