Summary Colombia's FARC rebels released a kidnapped politician; where as four other captives are stated to be released this week.
The hostage, Marcos Banquero, was flown out of jungle camp by a Brazilian helicopter in an operation watched over by former Colombian senator Piedad Cordoba. Family members carrying balloons hugged Baquero, a local councilman snatched 19 months ago, as he wiped away tears with a white cloth after landing in Villavicencio. The FARC, or Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, said they plan to release four more hostages: three military officials and a politician held in different jungle areas. The leftist guerrillas have released hostages in the past to try to gain political ground.
