Summary Three adults were killed and around 10 children were taken to hospital when a school bus was involved in a head-on collision with a tractor trailer in central Mississippi today.
The accident happened at 2 pm local time on highway 8 west of Calhoun, according to a spokesman for the state highway patrol. The buses and the truck were traveling in opposite directions on a bridge when the accident occurred. Officials say the truck sideswiped the first bus and then hit the second bus head-on. The driver of the truck was one of those killed in the accident; the other two victims were reportedly teachers on the bus. The students were returning from a tour of the University of Mississippi.
