Summary Anti-government protesters in Cairo held their position in the capital's central Tahrir Square on Monday evening. The protesters continue their protests for the 15th day in Cairo.
The protesters grouped in the square have vowed to remain in place until Hosni Mubarak quits and hope to take their campaign to the streets on 8th February 2011 and 11th February 2011. President Hosni Mubarak has refused calls to end his 30-year presidency before elections in September, saying his resignation would cause chaos. On Monday, Egypts new cabinet promised to keep subsidies in full and draw in foreign investment at its first meeting since the uprising, driven in part by poverty and economic hardship, broke out two weeks ago.While on the other side, the government also said, in separate statements on Monday, that it would raise some state wages and pensions by 15 percent and was exempting some late loan and tax payments from fines. Hosni Mubarak has said he will not run again for President and his son has been ruled out as next in line.
