Summary The Egyptian army was called in to control the protesters as they cordoned off Tehrir square.

The protests for the removal of President Hosni Mubarak have been going on for 13 days. This has led to chaos in the city. People have not been able to go to work because of the protest and even basic everyday necessities are not easily available.The army forced the people out from Tahrir square and smoothen the flow of traffic. The army is now patrolling the streets of Egypt so that offices and businesses remain open. According to the finance minister the protests that started on 25th January have cost the government up to $3 Billion.On the other hand, former American Vice President has declared President Hosni Mubarak as an American ally and a friend. He advised President Obama to handle the situation carefully as the outcome may not be good.
