The Northeastern US is digging out of yet another winter storm that pummeled the region with between six and 19 inches of snow overnight. The nation's capital is digging itself out after a a winter storm dumped between five and eight inches of snow on Washington, DC. City streets were littered with abandoned vehicles and traffic was tied up for hours. According to local power officials, at least 300,000 homes remain without power in the Washington and Northern Virginia area. In New York City, the snowstorm also slowed down morning traffic, even after city workers shoveled and plowed the streets overnight. The storm that started on Wednesday dumped 19 inches of snow in the city. This is now the snowiest January in New York City history.
