A man found guilty of spying on Iran's missile programme for the Israeli intelligence agency has been hanged. State news agency IRNA reported that Ali Akbar Siabat was hanged in Tehran after being condemned to death for working for Mossad for six years. He was accused of strengthening the Zionist regime, opposing the Islamic republic and (spreading) corruption on earth, the agency said. According to the charges against him, he passed on military secrets including details about fighter jets, the number of training flights and information about the Revolutionary Guards' air systems. The Guards control Iran's missile programme. Siadat was found with 29 pages of classified documents when he was arrested and was paid nearly 39,000 for his work, the authorities said. He met contacts from the intelligence agency in hotels in Turkey, Thailand and the Netherlands, they added.His death comes after the Iranian media said a second person had been sentenced to death for spying for Israel.
