Mumbai Police arrested two Muslim men for allegedly posting insulting images of Goddess Kali on social media last week.

The Indian media reported that various Hindu organisations had complained about two men and also warned that serious consequences would have had to be faced if they were not arrested.


According to them, both men owned a page named ‘’Nadaan Parinday’’ and posted derogatory images. Reports say that both were sent to Madhya Pradesh and were handed over for judicial remand. One was charged for photoshopping images and others for making them viral.


Ali Shaikh works as bodyguard whereas Abdul Qureshi owns an electronics outlet. They have been charged under Section 295-A and Section 153-A, which are about insulting religious beliefs and disharmony among religious respectively. Two men were arrested by Mumbai police this week for allegedly sharing offensively photoshopped pictures of the Hindu goddess Kali on Facebook.


Superintendent Police, Arvind Saxena told that the matter could have got worse if it was not handed carefully as holy month of Muslims Ramazan is about to start.
