British police recover weapons used to kill Dr Imran

A kitchen knife and brick used in the attack which left exiled MQM leader Dr. Imran Farooq dead have been recovered by British police. Dr Imran Farooq, 50, a senior member of the MQM party who had been in London since 1999, was stabbed in Green Lane in Edgware, north London, on September 16, 2010. The weapons were found in Green Lane, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said. The inquiry is being led by Scotland Yard's counter-terrorism unit. Detectives have said they want to speak to two Asian men in connection with Dr Farooq's murder. The spokesman said: A number of witnesses have already contacted police, but officers believe there are other people who may hold vital information about the incident and they continue to urge them to come forward. No arrests have been made. Last week, Dr Farooq's widow Shumaila Imran made an emotional appeal for help in catching the killers. Raza Haroon, a member of the MQM central co-ordination committee, said Mr Farooq had sought asylum in the UK as he was under threat. The prominent and popular leader was living with his wife and two sons in Green Lane. Following the killing, the security of other political figures from Pakistan living in London is now being reviewed. The MQM declared a 10-day mourning period following the death and violence was reported in Karachi, with cars being set alight and guns fired across the city.
