Bolivia declares emergency over forest fires

Forest fires in the Amazonian region of Bolivia are raging out of control, risking an environmental disaster. Wildfires destroyed houses and land in their path.A state of emergency has been declared in Bolivia as forest fires spread across the country. Bolivian authorities have asked Brazil and Argentina to send fire-fighting aircraft to help deal with the emergency, saying it lacks the necessary equipment.Fires have so far destroyed about 3.7m acres of land and more than 60 houses. Smoke from the fires has also delayed numerous flights and forced several airports to close for short periods.
