Summary Blood bore from the injuries is smeared on to their goddess 'Kaali' as an offering.
SIMLA - A centuries old unique ritual was celebrated in Simla city of India this year, in which villagers pelt stones and charge each other with sticks. This festival believed to bring good fortune and keep evil away left many injured.

It is also believed that Dhami, a village 20 miles from Shimla, is the place where human sacrifices took place in Himachal Pradesh.

Scores of residents from far flung areas in the hilly state congregate in Dhami to follow the age-old tradition and throw stones at each other.
Thousands of Hindu devotees gathered at the local temple at Himanchal Pardesh and pelt stones at each other on the beat of drums. The blood bore from the injuries is presented as an offering and is smeared on to their goddess ‘Kaali’.
The local administration tried hard to quell this ritual but the villagers seemed adamant. Despite all the efforts, however, the locals appear to be keen to grab the chance to engage in stone-pelting and lathicharge on Diwali eve.
High chances of injuries no way affected the enthusiasm of the participants.
