LAHORE (Web Desk) - Forward Press, an anti-caste magazine’s office was raided by Delhi police on the pretext of carrying objectionable material about Goddess Durga. Police confiscated all the copies of their October edition.

The editor of the magazine, Promod Ranjan, said the police has also detained four of its staff members illegally and had got all copies of the magazine removed from the stalls around Delhi without any court order or any ordfer from the superior authority.

According to the details, 15 police officers raided the office at 8:30 in the morning on Thursday, rummaged the place and took each and every copy of October’s issue into custody.

Police were not available for the comments, though an officer on the condition of anonymity told the orders came from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The snubbed magazine considers it an attack on freedom of expression claiming that there had been no such content that intends to humiliate or hurt the sentiments of any religion.

Press release issued by the magazine states, “We want to state that the action has been taken at the behest of the Brahamanical forces in the BJP. Forward Press – a magazine of Dalits, OBCs and Tribals – has always been an eyesore for these forces. In the last couple of years, Forward Press has faced many attacks from these forces. The attacks have only strengthened our moral force. We are hopeful that we will be able to emerge with our head held high from this latest crisis too.”
