It said thousands of troops will participate in the drills but there will be no live firing.Instead, officials say, soldiers will use computers to simulate shooting down Chinese drones and aircraft targeting Taiwanese military bases. Chinese drone use is increasing as the country seeks to economize on troop use.Taiwan has toned down its military exercises over the past four years amid warming relations with China.The two sides split amid civil war in 1949. China still claims the island its own territory.
