Summary At least 40 people were killed and dozens injured when a car bomb exploded near a church in Nigeria.
The blast struck Kaduna, the capital of Kaduna State, leaving charred debris of miscellaneous goods from a large number of vendors who were nearby.Moreover, two churches located in the area where numerous people were attending an Easter Sunday service, was also hit by the blast.According to security forces, it appeared that the explosive-laden car attempted to go into the compound of the churches, but was turned away by a security guard, before detonating near the intersection.Abubakar Zakari Adamu, a spokesman for the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, stated that at least 40 people were killed in the blast, and about 40 people were seriously injured.Sunday Ali, the public relations officer at the St. Gerards Catholic Hospital, where the injured are currently being treated, told reporters that 10 victims were brought here while five of them succumbed to their injuries.The blast affected a part of the All Nations Christian Assembly church, one of the two churches, during the morning mass. Nearby hotels and shops were damaged, their windows blown out by the force of the explosion, according to reports.
