Green was the color of the day and the sound of bagpipes filled the air as thousands lined the 42-block route for the annual Saint Patricks Day Parade in New York City.This marks the 251st year for the parade, which honors the patron saint of Ireland. The route stretched along Fifth avenue in the heart of New York City and includes representatives of Irelands county societies.Members of the U.S. militarys ceremonial honor guard also marched, joined by New York City and state law enforcement agencies.
