Angry mob set ablaze an army vehicle after a youth was hit by it in Anantnag city of Indian-held Kashmir state on Saturday.Reportedly, the victim has been identified as a 27-year-old young man named Yasir Ahmad Wani, who died on the spot.The incident took place near Khanable in Anantnag district in the afternoon at around 3:15 pm.An irate mob raised slogans We want freedom as they pelted stones at the army vehicle and on security officials.Fire tenders immediately rushed to the spot and doused fire from the vehicle.The restive region of Kashmir has witnessed numerous militant attacks, insurgency and infiltration attempts from across the border in the last two decades.Tens of thousands of people have been killed in two decades of anti-India insurgency in Muslim-majority Kashmir, which is divided between India and Pakistan by a ceasefire line monitored by the United Nations and claimed by both.India has accused Pakistan of inciting trouble in its half of Kashmir. However, Pakistan says it only lends moral support to what it calls the local peoples armed independence struggle, a conflict which broke out in 1989 and has killed more than 47,000 people.The restive Himalayan region is divided between India and Pakistan, both of which claim the region in full. They have fought two of their three wars over the region.
